Our Mission

Teach God's Word

Welcome to the Fort Sam Houston church of Christ where we strive to glorify God and edify one another.

The church of Christ dates back to the days of the New Testament (Romans 16:16). It was founded by Christ on the Day of Pentecost, A.D. 33 (Acts 2), just ten days after His ascension back to heaven. In the years that followed it rapidly grew to fill Jerusalem, then Judea, Samaria, and finally the whole Roman Empire (Acts 1:8; Colossians 1:23). It was first established in America in the late 1700s, up in the New England states.

The Lord's church at Fort Sam Houston is dedicated to the practice and serving of God according to New Testament Christianity, respecting both the authority and the silence of the Scriptures. We are simply Christians and Christians only, who worship God the Father and His Son, in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Worshipping and growing together, we reach out to our world with the soul-saving message of the gospel of Christ. We reach out to you, as well. Our doors are open. Our hearts are open, too. Those who are members of the body of Christ are in His church (Galatians 3:27; Colossians 3:15). To be added to the church by God (Acts 2:47), one must be obedient to that which has been commanded by God. One must believe in Christ (John 3:36), repent of sins (Acts 17:30), confess their faith in Christ (Acts 8:26-27), and be baptized into Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16). Salvation is in Christ (2 Timothy 2:10).

BELIEFS ~ We believe the Bible teaches that sinners are saved by faith, repentance, confession, and baptism (John 3:16; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9,10). The church of Christ is organized with elders, deacons, preachers, and members as in New Testament times (Philippians 1:1). We believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 20:30, 31), that the Bible is inspired of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 17), and that Jesus will return to take His kingdom (church) home to God (1 Corinthians 15:24). We emphasize sincere worship (John 4:24), every-member evangelism (Acts 8:4), godly living (Titus 2:11,12), love for each other (John 13:33,34), and helping those in need (James 1:27).

If you are seeking to worship with warm and friendly people who believe in the Bible as the only authority, then you have come to the right place! If you are in the area please visit us. We appreciate your interest.
